Regular Season Round 12: Montbrison - Monaco 73-80

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Monaco (9-2) beat on the road 13th ranked Montbrison (4-8) 80-73. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Montbrison won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Montbrison 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for naturalized Central African point guard Michael Mokongo (180-86) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 8 assists. Diego Vebobe (195-82) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Benjamin Tillon (189-85) replied with 12 points and 9 assists and British guard Duke-Jermaine Forbes (186-80, college: W.Georgia) added 19 points in the effort for Montbrison. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monaco have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record behind leader Angers BC. Newly promoted Montbrison keeps the thirteenth place with eight games lost. Monaco's next round opponent will be UB Chartres (#7) at home where they are favorite. Montbrison will play against Cognac BB (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
