Date: December 14, 2013
The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Aishin Sea Horses' (24-1) road victory over their biggest opponent Toyota Alvark (17-8) 84-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Toyota Alvark was better in third quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Toyota Alvark outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 41-26 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-1 record. Defending champion Toyota Alvark keeps the second place with eight games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Hokkaido L. (#3) in Saporro in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toyota Alvark will play on the road against the league's second-placed Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
