Regular Season Round 9: Ikaros - Aris 67-71

The biggest surprise of round 9 in A1 was guest Aris' (#8) road victory over 7th ranked Ikaros (2-8) 71-67 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 55 points after three quarters before their 11-62 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Aris made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 29 Ikaros turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Monique Oliver (188-91, college: Rutgers) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Roula Mouli (178-85) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Aris' coach Vassilis Maslarinos used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian center Lydia Milkova (192-70) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds and guard Roula Kalogirou (172-81) added 6 points, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively. Aris maintains eighth place with 3-7 record. Ikaros lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Aris are looking forward to face higher ranked Ippokratis (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ikaros will play against Anagenisi (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
