Regular Season Round 11: KAOD - Olympiacos 75-69
Date: December 29, 2013
The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Olympiacos (10-1) in Dramas on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked KAOD (6-5) 75-69. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Olympiacos. Olympiacos was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 20-11 charge of KAOD, which allowed them to win the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Olympiacos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American point guard J'Covan Brown (185-90, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Bosnian power forward Edin Bavcic (209-84, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 19 points and 9 rebounds. American-Belgian guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Evangelos Mantzaris (196-90) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Olympiacos' coach Giorgos Bartzokas rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. KAOD have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK. Olympiacos at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Panathinaikos. KAOD is looking forward to face Panelefsiniakos (#11) in Eleusina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olympiacos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Nea Kifisia.
