Regular Season Round 12: Polpharma - Energa Czarni 87-67

Bottom-ranked Polpharma managed to get a second victory, breaking the seven-game losing streak. This time they outleveled fifth-ranked Energa Czarni in Starogard 87-67. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Polpharma is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Polpharma led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Polpharma forced 22 Energa Czarni turnovers. The winners were led by Lithuanian point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) who scored that evening 19 points and Serbian Nikola Jeftic (205-87) supported him with 16 points. Polpharma's coach Tomasz Jankowski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds by American center Garrett Stutz (212-90, college: Wichita St.) did not help to save the game for Energa Czarni. International point guard Tomasz Snieg (190-89) added 9 points and 5 assists. Polpharma maintains twelfth position with 2-10 record. Energa Czarni at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Polpharma will play against higher ranked Rosa Radom (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Energa Czarni will play against Kotwica and hopes to get back on the winning track.
