Regular Season Round 13: Banvit BK - Mersin 94-63

TBL top team - Banvit BK (12-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Mersin (4-9) in Balikesir 94-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mersin. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Mersin managed to win fourth quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit BK had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 12 points. At the losing side naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Banvit BK have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Mersin at the other side keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Turk Telekom. Banvit BK are looking forward to face league's second-placed Anadolu Efes in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mersin will play at home against Selcuk Universitesi (#15) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
