A very close game took place in Angra between Barcelos and Lusitania. Sixth ranked Barcelos (5-4) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Lusitania (3-6). Barcelos managed to escape with a 3-point win 73-70 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lusitania. Lusitania was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-19 charge of Barcelos, which allowed them to win the game. Montenegrin forward Marko Loncovic (200-91, agency: The House of Baller!Stars) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Australian guard Matthew Adekponya (186-90) supported him with 18 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Even a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds by American center Marcel Momplaisir (205-81, college: Rhode Island, agency: Dynamics Global Management) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. Augusto Sobrinho (188-85) added 22 points and 4 assists for lost side. Barcelos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Lusitania keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Ovarense. Barcelos will meet at home league's second-placed Vitoria SC in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lusitania will play against CAB Madeira (#3) in Funchal and hope to secure a win.
