Regular Season Round 12: KR - Grindavik 98-105

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated KR (11-1) in Reykjavik on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Grindavik (8-4) 105-98. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of KR. Grindavik made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by KR helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Dominican guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) who added 24 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international Helgi Magnusson (197-82, college: Catawba) with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) scored 24 points and 4 assists. Five Grindavik and four KR players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Njardvik. KR at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Keflavik. Grindavik is looking forward to face Haukar (#6) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round. KR's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena IR.
