Regular Season Round 28: Shinshu BW - Toyama Grouses 82-94

The most important game in the last round took place in Nagano between second ranked Toyama Grouses (20-7) and fifth ranked Shinshu BW (16-7) on Saturday night. Toyama Grouses were defeated by Shinshu BW in a tough game on the road 89-94. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 24-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Shinshu BW made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Shota Konno (184-85) chipped in 23 points. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Joho Masashi (183-82) produced 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) added 22 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW moved-up to fourth place. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Shinshu BW are again looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyama Grouses at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Toyama Grouses will have a break next round.
