Rather predictable result when third ranked Bulleen Boomers (12-5) won against 7th ranked Logan Thunder (6-13) in Melbourne 74-63 on Friday. The game without a history. Bulleen Boomers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Bulleen Boomers outrebounded Logan Thunder 44-25 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Chelsea Poppens (188-91, college: Iowa St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Forward Emma Langford (188-89, college: Wyoming) came up with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Sarah Graham (163-89) added 14 points respectively for Logan Thunder in the defeat. Bulleen Boomers maintains third place with 12-5 record having five points less than leader Bendigo S. Logan Thunder lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Bulleen Boomers will meet Canberra Capitals (#7) on the road in the next round. Logan Thunder will play against the league's leader Bendigo Spirit and hope to secure a win.
