Date: January 17, 2014
The Bakersfield Jam (10-13) blew a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter and fell to the visiting Tulsa 66ers (6-15) Friday night by a final score of 114-110. Von Wafer powered the Jam in the first quarter as he scored 19 points (6/8 FGs) and helped Bakersfield jump out to a 35-22 lead. After shooting 55 percent from the floor in the first period, the Jam shot only 36 percent in the second quarter and their double-digit lead was cut to just four points at halftime (54-50). Bakersfield regained their double-digit lead in the third period and went into the final frame with an 87-74 advantage. However, the final 12 minutes proved to be the difference in the game as the Jam got outscored 40-23 and allowed Tulsa to shoot 64 percent in the quarter. Although the Jam made it a one-point game at 107-106 with 19.2 seconds left, Tulsa made clutch free-throws in the final seconds that sealed their road victory. Wafer finished with a game-high 34 points on 7-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. Ike Diogu had 21 points and eight rebounds, while Damion James posted his second consecutive double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Brian Butch and Jared Cunningham each tallied 12 points. The 66ers were led by Rodney Bartholomew (32 points, 17 rebounds) and Mario Little (32 points, 9 assists). Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, posted 14 rebounds and eight rebounds. Courtesy of: oursportscentral.com
