Regular Season Round 26: Mississauga P. - Moncton M. 84-81

Date: January 18, 2014
The Mississauga Power finally got back into the win column beating the Miracles 84-81 at Moncton Colosseum last night to end their 12-game losing streak. Despite a slow start for both teams in the first half, the Power turned in a solid team effort in a back-and-forth game with four players scoring in double digits. Mississauga took a slim 38-37 lead into halftime as both teams struggled from the floor. The Power did most of their damage in the third quarter, outscoring the Miracles 27-21 after jumping out to a 21-6 run to start the frame. The Miracles would cut that lead to five by the start of the fourth. The teams exchanged leads until the final seconds when forward Kirk Williams Jr. put the Power up by three off a steal to seal the win. The Power's last win came on Dec.15 against the Ottawa SkyHawks. The Power are a different team since then having made a series of roster moves during the losing streak. Newly acquired guard Greg Plummer had another big game for the Power with a double-double, dropping 25 points,12 rebounds and adding four assists, while playing 47 minutes in the win. He has averaged 21.3 points and six rebounds in three games since joining the Power. Dwight McCombs also put in a solid effort for the Power just missing a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Miracles guard Johnny Mayhane scored 20 in the loss. The Miracles have dropped three of their last four. The Power will wrap up their East Coast mini-swing against The Halifax Rainmen this afternoon (Jan. 19) at the Metro Centre at 4 p.m. before returning home for a matchup against The London Lightning on the 25th.
