Regular Season Round 14: Aris - KAOD 77-59

An interesting game took place in Thessaloniki where higher ranked KAOD (7-7) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Aris (6-8) 77-59. It looked good early as KAOD took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aris had a 21-8 second period charge getting the lead and KAOD was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-77. Aris forced 25 KAOD turnovers. Center Kostas Charissis (212-79, college: USC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Aris players scored in double figures. American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) replied with 19 points and forward Stamatis Benas (206-85) added 11 points in the effort for KAOD. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Aris moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kolossos. KAOD at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Aris' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena PAOK.
