Regular Season Round 47: Rio Grande VV - Austin T. 136-133

Despite scoring a season-high 133 points, the Austin Toros dropped their third game in a row Monday night, a 136-133 shootout loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Courtney Fells scored 26 points for the Toros, Josh Howard had 25, and Charlie Westbrook added 24. Rio Grande Valley’s Troy Daniels had a season-high 34 points and made five 3-pointers. The Vipers made 21 threes. The Toros scored 39 points in the first quarter, led by Howard’s 11 points, and shot 68 percent from the field to go up by six after the first. The Vipers, the NBA D-League’s top scoring offense, responded by putting up 45 points in the second quarter and led by nine at halftime. The Toros fought back in the third and took a 104-103 lead into the fourth. The Vipers went on a 15-3 run to go up by eight with more than six minutes left, but the Toros countered with a 12-3 run to take a one-point lead with less than three minutes on the clock.
