Regular Season Round 6: Rapla - Tarvas 76-70
Date: January 20, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked BC Rakvere (3-7) lost on the road to seventh ranked Rapla (3-7) 76-70 on Monday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But BC Rakvere won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for swingman Sven Kaldre (197-91) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Martin Paasoja (191-93) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Rapla players scored in double figures. Rapla's coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Rait Keerles (201-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Latvian swingman Juris Umbrasko (197-79) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for BC Rakvere. Rapla moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Tarvas. BC Rakvere lost third consecutive game. Rapla will face league's second-placed Norrkoping Dolphins in Norrkoping in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Rakvere will play on the road against Valmiera (#3) and hope to win that game.
