Regular Season Round 83: Oklah.City T. - Portland TB 105-97

Date: January 21, 2014
Kevin Durant’s stellar scoring streak continued, this time at the expense of LaMarcus Aldridge and the rest of the Portland Trail Blazers. The Oklahoma City Thunder won their fourth in a row, 105-97, while Durant made it eight straight games with at least 30 points, finishing with 46 in this one, Tuesday (Wednesday, PHL time) at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Durant hit 17-of-25 shots from the field, including 6-of-7 three-pointers. He also added five rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes of action. Portland had a slight lead, 52-51, at the half, before Damian Lillard charities made it a nine-point affair, 75-66, 2:343 left in the third. Derek Fisher however woke up his troops with a triple, which got Durant going, as he scored eight straight to make it an 11-0 run entering the fourth, good for a 77-75 lead. Wesley Matthews snatched the lead back for the Blazers at the start of the fourth, 81-80. Aldridge then canned charities to make the difference five, 93-88, 4:56 remaining. Durant then took over anew, hitting a layup, and then a three-pointer to equalize, 95-all, 2:54 on the clock. Off a Blazers timeout, Aldridge turned the ball over, leading to a Reggie Jackson deuce. Three huge blocks by the Thunder big men squelched Portland’s next offensive, then Kendrik Perkins added a jumper for a two-possession Thunder advantage, 99-95. Two Durant treys put the nail in the coffin, though Damian Lillard managed a consolation layup to end the game. Reggie Jackon added 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists in support of Durant. Sege Ibaka added 10 points, five boards and five blocks, while veteran Derek Fisher scored 10 off the bench, six from three-pointers. LaMarcus Aldridge’s 29-point, 16-rebound effort was wasted in the loss. Wesley Matthews scored 21 on 7-of-15 shooting, 4-of-8 from downtown with four rebounds and four assists, but Damian Lillard and Nicolas Batum had sub-par outings. The duo were a combined 7-of-19 from the field for 17 points, 14 from Lillard, who missed all five of his long-range attempts. The Thunder sizzled from downtown, making 10-of-15 treys, compared to 7-of-19 for Portland. The Blazers had more assists, 23-16, but couldn’t stop Durant when it mattered the most.
