Regular Season Round 15: Hapoel Afula - Elizur Ashkelon 102-77

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Hapoel Afula (10-5) smashed at home 8th ranked Ironi Ashkelon (7-8) 102-77 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Afula. Ironi Ashkelon was better in second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Afula forced 23 Ironi Ashkelon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Roburt Sallie (196-86, college: Memphis, agency: Blacktop Management) helped adding 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula's coach Rami Hadar felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Casey Mitchell (193-88, college: W.Virginia) with 19 points and 8 rebounds and international Raviv Pitshon (201-89) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Hapoel Afula have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Ironi Ashkelon dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Hapoel Afula will face Ironi Ramat Gan (#4) on the road in the next round. Ironi Ashkelon will play against the league's leader Hapoel Kazrin and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Winner League just one year after relegation.
