Regular Season Round 25: Hitachi SR - Tsukuba R. 84-63

The game in Tokyo supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-22) played at the court of sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (7-21). Hitachi Sunrockers smashed Tsukuba R. 84-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Tsukuba R. was better in fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 32. Hitachi Sunrockers forced 19 Tsukuba R. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. It was a very good performance for American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Satoshi Takeda (185-80) added 12 points in the effort for Tsukuba R.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chiba Jets. Tsukuba R. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 22 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face again Tsukuba R. (#5) at home in the next round.
