Regular Season Round 52: Tulsa 66ers - Idaho S. 131-128
Date: January 25, 2014
With his team on the verge of their second consecutive last-minute meltdown, Tulsa's Maurice Sutton picked the perfect time to make perhaps his biggest basket of the season. Sutton flew through the lane to slam home a Reggie Williams miss with 19.2 seconds left Saturday night as the Tulsa 66ers held on for a 131-128 victory over the Idaho Stampede before 2,266 fans at the SpiritBank Event Center. The follow-dunk capped a season-high 16 points and 15 rebounds off the bench for Sutton, who was one of four Tulsa players to record double-doubles in an offensive explosion that ranked as the 66ers' third-highest scoring game in team history. "That felt good," Sutton said, smiling. "I was just glad to have a chance to help the team. Every night is a grind and every night we have someone who comes through for us." Tulsa (8-15) needed everything it could muster to overcome a 49-point quarter from Idaho (13-11). Former Baylor star Pierre Jackson entered the game ranked as the D-League's top prospect and he lived up to those credentials, finishing with 46 points, including 21 in the final quarter. The 66ers stayed hot in the final quarter, as well, hitting 13 of 18 from the field to fend off the visitors. Williams paced Tulsa with 30 points. Mario Little added 24, including a big 3-pointer with 1:20 left that allowed Tulsa to retake the lead at 124-122. Courtesy of: tulsaworld.com
