Regular Season Round 18: Bayreuth - Brose Bask. 68-69
Date: January 26, 2014
Very expected game when 16th ranked BBC Bayreuth (4-14) was edged at home by second ranked Brose Baskets (15-3) 69-68 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BBC Bayreuth won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brose Baskets made 7 blocks. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago-American center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) who saved his team from a defeat with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American swingman Casey Jacobsen (198-81, college: Stanford) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ronnie Burrell (204-83, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Pro One Sports) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for BBC Bayreuth. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brose Baskets have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-3 record behind leader B.Muenchen. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the sixteenth place with 14 games lost. Brose Baskets will face Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#9) in Frankfurt in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BBC Bayreuth will play on the road against ALBA Berlin (#3) and hope to win that game.
