Regular Season Round 16: Energa Czarni - Slask Wroclaw 84-66

Date: January 26, 2014
The game in Slupsk was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked Slask Wroclaw (8-8) played at the court of sixth ranked Energa Czarni (9-7). Energa Czarni did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 84-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Slask Wroclaw. The game was mostly controlled by Energa Czarni. Slask Wroclaw was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Energa Czarni made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Energa Czarni outrebounded Slask Wroclaw 35-21 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Joseph Taylor (202-85, college: Wyoming) who scored that evening 15 points and 5 assists and the former international power forward Mateusz Jarmakowicz (208-88) supported him with 20 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Energa Czarni's coach Andrej Urlep used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points and 4 assists by American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) did not help to save the game for Slask Wroclaw. Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (201-89, college: Rhode Island) added 16 points for lost side. Energa Czarni moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Slask Wroclaw dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Energa Czarni's next round opponent will be Asseco (#7) in Gdynia. Slask Wroclaw will play at home against Rosa Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
