D1 top team - Elitzur Ramla (13-2) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (6-9) 73-53. The game was mostly controlled by Elitzur Ramla. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion managed to win fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. American guard Allison Hightower (178-88, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (192-85, college: Hofstra) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Alexis Gray-Lawson (173-87, college: California) came up with 22 points and the other American import forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Elitzur Ramla. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-2 record, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. Loser Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Bnot Hertzeliya. Elitzur Ramla will meet at home bottom-ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Ramat Hasharon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
