Regular Season Round 26: Waterloo - Western 77-74

There was a surprise result in Waterloo, ON where seventh ranked Warriors (4-15) edged higher ranked Mustangs (7-11) 77-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Mustangs outrebounded Warriors 44-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Matt Glibota (198-91) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized British swingman Mike Helsby (193-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Forward Greg Morrow (190) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and forward Peter Scholtes (196) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Warriors maintains seventh position with 4-15 record. Loser Mustangs dropped to the fourth place with 11 games lost. Warriors will face higher ranked Gryphons (#6) in Guelph, ON in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mustangs will play on the road against the league's second-placed Lancers and will have a slim chance for a victory.
