Regular Season Round 61: Tulsa 66ers - Iowa E. 106-114

The Tulsa 66ers fell to the Iowa Energy, 114-106, in a matinee kids day game at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, posted 20 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals on the Thunder’s home floor. Grant Jerrett led the 66ers scoring efforts with 24 points alongside six rebounds and a pair of steals. Six Tulsa players scored in double digits, including Mario Little with 15 points and four rebounds and Reggie Williams with 15 points, four rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Mustafa Shakur scored 12 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Scoop Jardine tallied 10 points, two rebounds and four assists. “We stayed in the game until the end and I liked that our guys were fighting until the last play,” said Tulsa Head Coach Darko Rajakovic. “I want to thank everyone who showed up to cheer us on, especially the kids coming from school in these weather conditions. It was a lot of fun for me to coach and for our players to play here in an NBA facility.” Both teams started the game shooting hot as Iowa took a 37-35 lead after the first quarter. The Energy then stretched a 43-42 lead into a 58-44 advantage with a 16-2 run in the middle of the second quarter. Tulsa responded with a 12-1 run to pull within three before Iowa finished the half up by eight. Iowa outscored Tulsa 28-20 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 16, but the 66ers used a 10-2 run early in the fourth quarter to get within single digits. Tulsa pulled within six points on a pair of Shakur free throws with six seconds remaining, but the Energy connected at the foul line to hold off the 66ers.
