Sixth-ranked KAOD (7-10) gave a tough game to first ranked Panathinaikos (16-1) in Dramas on Wednesday. The visitors from Athens managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. KAOD was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 19-13 charge of Panathinaikos, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-13. Panathinaikos made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. KAOD was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Dimitris Diamantidis (196-80) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. Panathinaikos' coach Argiris Pedoulakis used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard J'Covan Brown (185-90, college: Texas) responded with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) scored 23 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Four KAOD players scored in double figures. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. KAOD lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost.
