Regular Season Round 63: Iowa E. - Sioux Falls S. 123-115

The Iowa Energy defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena for the team’s annual Education Celebration game. The Skyforce jumped out early, but the Energy led after the first quarter 33-32. The second quarter was back and forth between the two Central Division rivals. DeAndre Liggins had 11 of his 17 points in the quarter for Sioux Falls. Iowa’s Austin Freeman had 10 points in the second quarter. Iowa took a 63-62 lead into the half. The third quarter belonged to Iowa, outscoring Sioux Falls by 10. Iowa’s Patrick Christopher had 14 of his team high 26 points in the third quarter and helped give Iowa the 99-88 lead heading into the final quarter. Tre Kelley had 20 of his game high 34 points in the second half, 9 of which came in the final quarter. Sioux Falls fought back to bring the score to 116-112 before Christopher hit a 3-pointer with 1:05 to go in the game. Iowa came away with the 123-115 victory to improve to 18-11 on the season. Sioux Falls drops to 17-10. Sioux Falls was led by Kelley’s 34 points. Liggins finished the game with 17 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists. Larry Drew added 21 points and 7 assists. Justin Hamilton had 18 points. The Energy were led by Christopher’s 26 points. Othyus Jeffers, returning from an NBA stint with the San Antonio Spurs, had 20 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.
