Regular Season Round 33: Halifax R. - The Island S. 105-114

Date: February 7, 2014
The Halifax Rainmen are running out of chances to snap their season-long winless drought away from home. The Island Storm repelled repeated Rainmen comeback bids Friday night in Charlottetown to down their Atlantic Division rivals 114-105, leaving Halifax without a win in 15 road games this year. Nick Okorie scored 27 points and Adrian Moss had 20 points to go along with 13 assists to pace the Storm (18-14). Olu Famutimi had a game-high 29 points for the Rainmen, last in the National Basketball League of Canada with a woeful 6-25 record. They have five road games remaining. Jason Williams added 23 points for Halifax, JuJuan Cooley had 17, Raven Barber 11 and Tim Parham 10. Parham added 11 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season. Cooley also had a double-double, his sixth, after dishing out 10 assists. Halifax led three times in the first quarter, the last time after Cooley poured in seven straight points to put the Rainmen ahead 16-14. But the Storm responded with the next eight points and carried a 30-25 lead into the second quarter. The visitors trailed by as many as nine points in the second, got back to within one in the last minute and went to halftime down 52-49. In the third period, Island opened a 10-point bulge (74-64) on Moss’s triple with 4:54 left but Williams’ bucket capped a 10-0 Rainmen run over the next two minutes to draw Halifax even. The Rainmen, down 80-79 to start the fourth, took their first lead since the opening quarter on Cooley’s hoop 90 seconds in. But Ed Jones responded with a trey for the Storm 20 seconds later to put Island back in front, starting them on a 14-2 surge that put them in control 94-83. Courtesy of: thechronicleherald.ca
