Regular Season Round 16: KR - KFI 93-80

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked KR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. KR defeated 11th ranked KFI in Reykjavik 93-80. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when KR's pressure prevailed and they won that period 23-17 extending their advantage to 13 points. KR outrebounded KFI 44-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) fired a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Swingman Darri Hilmarsson (190-87) chipped in 19 points. Five KR players scored in double figures. American point guard Joshua Brown (187-88, college: Towson) produced 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and forward Agust Angantysson (198-85) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KR have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Keflavik. KFI at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. KFI will play next round against Haukar trying to get back on the winning streak. KR will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Njardvik in Njardvik.
