Regular Season Round 27: Trakai - Zanavykas 75-83

The game between second ranked Trakai (19-7) and ninth ranked Zanavykas (11-14) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Trakai was defeated by Zanavykas in a tough game in Trakai 75-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Trakai. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-10. But Trakai won third quarter 34-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zanavykas won last quarter 22-16. Zanavykas shot 20 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Trakai only scored three points from the stripe. Zanavykas forced 19 Trakai turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Trakai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for guard Paulius Kleiza (194-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Marijus Uzupis (197-93) helped adding 14 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Rytis Juknevicius (187-93) with 21 points and 4 assists and swingman Tautvydas Pipiras (198-93) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trakai's coach Dainius Miliunas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zanavykas moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Trakai keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Delikatesas. Zanavykas are looking forward to face Palanga (#11) at home in the next round. Trakai will play against Olimpas (#14) in Plunge and is hoping to win this game.
