Regular Season Round 29: Tochigi Brex - Tsukuba R. 84-62
Date: February 9, 2014
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Tsukuba R.'s (6-27) road loss to fourth ranked Tochigi Brex (18-14) 62-84 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Tsukuba R. was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 20 points, 8 assists and 6 steals. Guard Hiroya Oogane (180-89) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Tochigi Brex maintains fourth place with 18-14 record. Tsukuba R. lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 27 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Hyogo S. (#4) at home in the next round. Tsukuba R. will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and hope to win that game.
