Regular Season Round 20: Telekom Bsk - Ludwigsburg 77-88
Date: February 9, 2014
There was a small surprise in Bonn where eighth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (11-9) defeated 6th ranked Telekom Baskets (12-8) 88-77. Telekom Baskets were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Telekom Baskets 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Telekom Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Finnish Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists by American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist, agency: Pro One Sports) did not help to save the game for Telekom Baskets. His fellow American import Tony Gaffney (205-84, college: Massachusetts) added 17 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EnBW Ludwigsburg have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ratiopharm. Telekom Baskets at the other side keep the sixth position with eight games lost. EnBW Ludwigsburg's next round opponent will be BBC Bayreuth (#17) at home and are hoping to win another game.
