Regular Season Round 30: Hokkaido L. - Wakayama T. 76-79

The most exciting game of round 30 in the NBL took place in Saporro. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Hokkaido L. (20-14) to second ranked Wakayama T. (23-9) 79-76 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hokkaido L.. Hokkaido L. trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 22-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-79 at the end of the game. Wakayama T. made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. The former international point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) replied with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks and guard Tomokazu Abe (180-85) added 16 points in the effort for Hokkaido L.Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second position with 23-9 record having four points less than leader Aishin SH. Hokkaido L. at the other side keeps the third place with 14 games lost. Wakayama T. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hokkaido L. will play again at home against the league's second-placed Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
