Regular Season Round 12: MIA Academy - Armia 74-92

Date: February 15, 2014
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Armia (#2) and MIA (#5). MIA was smashed at home by 18 points 74-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MIA. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-74. Armia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to MIA's 38. Armia forced 21 MIA turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). International center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland) who recorded 23 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Armia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Defending champion MIA dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Armia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Maccabi Tbilisi.
