Capitanes de Arecibo earned the second win in Liga Americas Group D. They held off Mavort for 2-1 record. It was just enough to reach the next stage of the tournament. Vassallo posted 34 points and 13 boards in the victory. Arecibo piled up a 34:22 lead after the opening quarter. Mavort stopped the rot in the second frame. The Ecuadorian team got within 8 points at halftime 48:56. Arecibo stayed in charge throughout the third term. Capitanes ensured a 9-point lead into the fourth frame. Mavort and Arecibo traded baskets throughout the final period as the Puerto Rican side marched to the victory. Rodney Carney chipped in 20 points, while Danilo Pinnock added 17 points in the win. Elys Guzman responded with 29 points for Mavort. Blake Walker tossed in 21 points in the loss.
