Cantu snatched a road win over Ulm but it was not enough for the Italian team to qualify for the next round. They needed to win by 9 or more points to do so. ratiopharm Ulm trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 28-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-85 at the end of the game. Strangely ratiopharm Ulm outrebounded Cantu 46-33 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists. The other American import forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Dominican point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) replied with 22 points and 5 assists and Daniel Theis (204-92) added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for ratiopharm Ulm. Five Cantu and four ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
