Guangdong prevailed against Shanghai in the opening game of the quarterfinal series. Shanghai Sharks were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and international ShiPeng Wang (198-83) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American Darnell Jackson (203-85, college: Kansas) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the former international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Shanghai Sharks in the defeat.
