Regular Season Round 25: Sozh Gomel - Rubon 107-71

Third ranked Sozh Gomel (18-7) crushed at home 6th ranked Rubon (8-18) by 36 points 107-71, which is the biggest margin this round. The game without a history. Sozh Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Rubon's 44 and made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Rubon 38-27 including a 29-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sozh Gomel players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89, agency: Mike Diesel) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. Center Pavel Bliznets (210-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Sozh Gomel's coach Aleksander Poderachev felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Victor Ilyukevich (203-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Fedor Kryukov (181-88) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Rubon. Five Sozh Gomel and four Rubon players scored in double figures. Sozh Gomel maintains third place with 18-7 record having seven points less than leader Grodno-93. Rubon at the other side keeps the sixth position with 18 games lost. Sozh Gomel's next round opponent will be Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4) on the road. Rubon will play against the league's leader Grodno-93 and hope to win that game.
