Pioneros got to the winning start of their quarterfinal series versus Toros. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 34. They outrebounded Toros 46-29 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard Dangalo Jackson (183, college: Ark.-Ft.Smith JC) responded with 14 points and naturalized American forward Quentin Gonzalez (200-84, college: McNeese St.) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Pioneros and five Toros players scored in double figures.
