Regular Season Round 6: Amchit - Al Riyadi 75-73

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Al Riyadi (5-1) on the court of fifth ranked Amchit on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Amchit 75-73. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-73. It was a good game for American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. International center Loren Woods (218-78, college: Arizona) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Ali Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) added 15 points in the effort for Al Riyadi. Amchit (4-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Moutahed. Defending champion Al Riyadi still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Sagesse and Byblos. Amchit is looking forward to face Homenetm. B (#8) in Beirut in the next round. Al Riyadi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Hoops Club.
