No shocking result in a game when second ranked Yesilgiresun (16-6) crushed 11th ranked ITU Istanbul (10-11) in Giresun 87-65 on Saturday. The game without a history. Yesilgiresun led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. It was a very good performance for American guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Murat Erensoy (202-91) replied with 19 points and American forward Isiah Brown (203-89, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for ITU Istanbul. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Yesilgiresun maintains second position with 16-6 record having just two points less than leader Darussafaka. Newly promoted ITU Istanbul keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Yesilgiresun will face Vestel (#4) in Manisa in the next round. ITU Istanbul will play at home against Hacettepe (#18) and hope to win that game.
