Regular Season Round 23: Sorgues - Lourdes 102-76

The game between fourth ranked Sorgues BC (15-8) and 12th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (9-13) in Sorgues on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Sorgues BC outscored guests from Tarbes 102-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lourdes-Tarbes. The game was mostly controlled by Sorgues BC. Lourdes-Tarbes was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sorgues BC forced 22 Lourdes-Tarbes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Lourdes-Tarbes was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American-British power forward Tafari Toney (203-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Center Xavier Pasut (200-84) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Sorgues BC players scored in double figures. Center Raphael Giaimo (210-89, college: Seward County CC) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all thirteen shots !!!) and forward Florent Pontens (198, college: District of Col.) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Lourdes-Tarbes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sorgues BC. They maintain fourth place with 15-8 record, which they share with Vichy. Newly promoted Lourdes-Tarbes dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Sorgues BC will face Montbrison (#17) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Saint Chamond (#7) and hope to win that game.
