Quarter-Finals Round 2: Pioneros - Toros 94-82

Pioneros held off Toros to earn the second straight victory in the quarterfinal series. It looked good early as Toros took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pioneros had a 26-15 second period charge getting the lead and Toros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-94. Pioneros made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Toros 42-22 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Rashad Jones-Jennings (203-84, college: UALR) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. American forward Toney McCray (198-89, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Toros players scored in double figures.
