Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (3-17) lost to sixth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (11-9) in Nes Ziyona 61-72. It looked good early as Maccabi Ashdod took an 14-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ironi Nes-Ziona took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Ironi Nes-Ziona's coach Nadav Zilberstein used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Elijah Millsap (198-87, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi Ashdod lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Bnei Hasharon (#11) in Hod Hasharon in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Ashdod will play at home against Galil Gilboa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
