There was no surprise when 12th ranked Stade (3-16) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Oldenburg (13-7) 94-66 on Sunday. The game without a history. Oldenburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Stade's 34. They outrebounded Stade 43-32 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oldenburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Stade's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Oldenburg made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was point guard Kevin Smit (183-91) who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Center Kai Haenig (205-88, college: Missouri Valley) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Oldenburg players scored in double figures. Oldenburg's coach Mladen Drijencic felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest.
