Regular Season Round 78: Los Angeles D. - Springfield A. 134-128
Date: February 24, 2014
The Springfield Armor finished their West Coast road trip with a shootout with the Los Angeles D-Fenders at the Toyota Sports Center. The high-scoring match-up came down to the wire, but Los Angeles used a late surge to pull away with a 134-128 win. The Armor (13-21) had the advantage at halftime, thanks to Jeff Foote and the Springfield big men. Foote had 13 first-half points to help the Armor to a 34-26 advantage in points in the paint. Springfield’s lead grew to as large as 12 points in the first, but the D-Fenders would slowly chip away with steady shooting from the field. L.A. dropped 39 points in the third quarter to take the lead going into the fourth. The teams then traded baskets to work their way to a tie at 123 with just more than two minutes to play. However, the D-Fenders used an 11-5 run to close out the game and escape with the victory. The Armor’s leading scoere Darius Johnson-Odom led Springfield’s attack with 23 points, while Willie Reed netted his second consecutive 20-point game. But it was L.A.’s top prospect Manny Harris who led all scorers with 30 points to push the D-Fenders over the top. Springfield will now return home to open a four-game stretch beginning Thursday night against the Austin Toros at 7:00 p.m. Courtesy of: wggb.com
