Regular Season Round 22: Montepaschi - AV Cantu 68-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Siena between third ranked Cantu (15-7) and fourth ranked Montepaschi Siena (15-7) on Sunday night. Cantu was defeated by Montepaschi Siena in a tough game on the road 62-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cantu. Cantu was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. American guard Matt Janning (197-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) fired 20 points for the winners. American-Azerbaijani power forward Spencer Nelson (203-80, college: Utah St.) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Pietro Aradori (194-88) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montepaschi Siena have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Cantu. Montepaschi Siena is looking forward to face Tuscany Pistoia (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cantu will play against the league's second-placed Enel Brindisi (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
