Regular Season Round 21: Tigers - Kings 92-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Melbourne. Third ranked host Melbourne Tigers (14-12) defeated 4th placed Kings (11-13) 92-82. Kings were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 41-29 second half run of Melbourne Tigers. They outrebounded Kings 39-28 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) nailed 50 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Mark Worthington (203-83, college: Metro St.) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds and international swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta St.) added 19 points respectively for Kings in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melbourne Tigers maintains third place with 14-12 record having six points less than leader Wildcats. Kings lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 13 games lost. Melbourne Tigers will play against Cairns Taipans (#6) on the road in the next round. Kings will play against the league's second-placed Adelaide 36ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
