Regular Season Round 17: Rabotnicki - Kozuv 72-67

There was a change at the Prva Liga leadership position after last games. Round 17 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Kozuv (13-2). They were defeated by second ranked Rabotnicki (14-1) 72-67 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Kozuv. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kozuv won third quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kozuv 37-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Kozuv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian center Dusan Knezevic (207-80, agency: BeoExcell) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Darko Sokolov (190-86) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Rabotnicki's coach Emil Rajkovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian Slaven Cupkovic (205-88, agency: BeoExcell) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and center Aleksandar Shterjov (208-86, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 16 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Rabotnicki have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Kozuv at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Rabotnicki. There is only one round left in the Regular Season. And it will be most important game for Kozuv this season. They will face strong Kumanovo 2009 trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Rabotnicki will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked ABA Strumica on the road.
