Fifth-ranked Hyogo S. (6-34) gave a tough game to third ranked Hokkaido L. (27-16) in Saporro on Sunday. Hokkaido L. managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. Hokkaido L. outrebounded Hyogo S. 49-36 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) helped adding 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Hokkaido L.'s coach Juan Manuel Hurtado used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hokkaido L. maintains third place with 27-16 record having eight points less than leader Aishin SH. Hyogo S. lost eighteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 34 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face Kumamoto V. (#6) on the road in the next round. Hyogo S. will play against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
