Very expected game when 12th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (4-19) lost to eighth ranked Galil Gilboa (10-13) in Rosh Pina 78-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Galil Gilboa. Maccabi Ashdod managed to win second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Amit Simhon (197-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) accounted for 19 points and 5 steals for the winning side. American Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kenny Hayes (188-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: Priority Sports) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa maintains eighth place with 10-13 record. Loser Maccabi Ashdod stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Galil Gilboa will meet Maccabi Rishon (#10) in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against GreenTops Netanya and hope to secure a win.
